Zane Grey (1872–1939) was an American author best known for his Western novels, which helped shape the genre’s popularity in the early 20th century.

Born in Zanesville, Ohio, Grey trained as a dentist but pursued writing, drawing inspiration from his adventures in the American frontier. His breakthrough novel, "Riders of the Purple Sage" (1912), became one of the most influential Westerns of all time.

Grey’s stories, filled with rugged landscapes, heroic cowboys, and frontier justice, captivated readers worldwide. He wrote over 90 books, many adapted into films. His work cemented the mythos of the Old West, making him one of the most iconic Western storytellers in history.
