W.W. Jacobs

w.w. Jacobs

W.W. Jacobs (1863–1943) was an English writer best known for his macabre and supernatural fiction, particularly his chilling short story "The Monkey’s Paw" (1902).

Born in London, Jacobs worked as a civil servant before turning to writing. Though he wrote many humorous tales of maritime life, it was his dark, suspenseful stories that left a lasting mark on literature.

His ability to blend ordinary settings with eerie, supernatural twists made his horror fiction timeless. While much of his work focused on humor, it is "The Monkey’s Paw" that remains his most celebrated and haunting legacy.
