YOU'VE JUST RETIRED
Congratulations! Now what?
After 45+ years of punching a clock day after day, week after week, it's finally over. The hard grind is behind you. No more slaving away in some drafty warehouse or tied to a mindless machine. Maybe you were trapped in a cubical strapped to an office chair for eight hours a day (or more). You might still find it hard to believe but it's true, those days are over. From now on you're living an eternal weekend where every day is a Saturday.
Now your time is yours and you have a lot more of it. It's finally time to start living that Successful Retirement Lifestyle you've been dreaming of. Now you can actually say it for real. "I just retired". Feels good doesn't it. This is a new phase in your life. Sit back, relax and give this some thought. What does retirement really mean for you? How do you plan to live with it?
Is it a new lifestyle of international travel where you spend your days globe hopping on a permanent vacation as you explore different cultures and different countries?
Does it mean you finally have the chance to live your dream of being a domestic explorer. Full time RVing all around the country? Meeting up and socializing with other RVers in different parts of the country might be your thing.
Or does it mean you've played all of your cards right over the years and made big bucks on smart investments while you were still working. Now you get to enjoy the fruits of your smart investments.
These are all great scenarios but not all of us are able or even willing to make these things happen. Maybe your plans don't include any of these lifestyles. Maybe you have something completely different in mind.
That depends. Not everyone has the same dreams. You might not want to travel. Maybe you're perfectly happy puttering around the house or working in your garden.
Everyone is different. Everyone has their own definition of what a Successful Retirement Lifestyle is. That's the way it should be.
You've earned your retirement. If doing nothing but eating chips and watching TV is how you want to spend it, more power to you. I don't recommend this lifestyle but it's your retirement, live with it however you want.
You're a unique individual. You have your own version of a Successful Retirement Lifestyle.
It boils down to this.
You live with your retirement years doing what you want when you want. And doing it with whatever you have at your disposal. That would include your talents and personality. Not just income. As long as you stay healthy and fit, you're good to go.

There's a lot to be said when it comes to a successful retirement lifestyle. Not all of it fits neatly into a pre-determined category. I file a good percentage of what I write under the heading of random thoughts. You're sure to enjoy these eye opening and thought provoking articles.
Many of those who retire have made a potentially fatal mistake in their planning. They neglected a plan to keep themselves motivated. If you find yourself retired with a lack of motivation, stay strong. The articles in this section may help you find or regain your motivation.
This site contains ideas and articles on how to get the most out of your retirement now that you've finally arrived. It's not a website focused on retirement planning.
